Mapping the Culture of North and South America:

These programs introduce a specific country or countries within the continents of North and South America. This will include interaction and discussion with international students, cultural activities and celebrations, and examples of artifacts.  Choose from the featured country list below and then indicate your choice on the registration form.  *Note: Part of International students based on availability

Joe Foss- VIP [Veteran's Inspiring Patriotism]:

This program is a collaboration with the Joe Foss Institute to bring veteran volunteer speakers to the classroom. Students will hear from American heroes, learn the significance of our founding documents, and gain appreciation for freedom. Topics include civics, citizenship, leadership, patriotism, and heroism.

Ellis
♦ Ellis Island:

For more than six decades [1892-1954] this immigrant station processed hundreds of thousands of people into the United States. Travel back to the early 1900's and experience what it was like to come to America as an immigrant. *Note: 11th Grade Only

SPECIAL PROGRAMS: THESE PROGRAMS ARE OFFERED IN MORNING AND AFTERNOON SESSIONS ON A SPECIFIC DAY AT THE ICC. THIS ALLOWS US TO SERVE A LARGER NUMBER OF STUDENTS. RESERVATIONS ARE MADE AT LEAST TWO WEEKS IN ADVANCE.

This holiday is rooted in ancient Aztec rituals mixed with colonial beliefs and culture creating a rich tradition found primarily in Mexico. Students will explore the history, traditions and current celebrations of this unique day.
