TTU LA @ CELA 2017 Beijing
Several members of Texas Tech University Landscape Architecture (TTU LARC) Department participated in the 2017 Conference of the Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture in Beijing, China, during the last week of May.
Assistant Professor Dr. Sohyun Park and Graduate Student Michael K. Ross presented Ross's Master's in Landscape Architecture (MLA) Thesis Project entitled Landscape Reimagined: Ecology as Design Intervention.
Similarly, Assistant Professor Dr. Yi Luo and Graduate Student Joanna Aduhene presented Aduhene's MLA Thesis Project, ntegrating Therapeutic Landscape Theory and Guidelines with Senior Community Development: A Demonstration Project in Ghana.
In addition to collaborating with Aduhene in the presentation of the graduate student's thesis project, Dr. Luo offered two presentations of her own: Building Sponge City in China: Examples of Landscape Architecture Curriculum on Storm Water Management in the United States, and Promoting Landscape Performance Measurement: A Collaborative Baseline Data Collection Experience.
Visits to sites of Landscape Architectural significance supplemented the conference presentations and panels. In their participation in this program of field trips, the TTU LARC members toured the Summer Palace and spent time examining exhibits in the Museum of Chinese Gardens and Landscape Architecture. They also visited the Beijing Cuihu Wetland Park, a landscape architectural site noteworthy for its focus on urban greenspace, biodiversity, and green infrastructure.
