Sherylynn ("Shery") Kime-Goodwin graduated with a B.S. in Journalism from Texas Christian University in 1991. While earning her undergraduate degree, she studied abroad at Durham University in Durham, England.

She obtained her juris doctorate from Texas Tech University School of Law in 1994. After graduating from law school, she practiced in the areas of bankruptcy, banking, and commercial litigation, first with Langston Law Offices, P.C., and then with Mullin, Hoard, and Brown, L.L.P. In 2000, she joined the Office of the Federal Public Defender for the Northern District of Texas, and currently serves as an assistant federal public defender and the acting supervisor of the Lubbock Office. Professor Kime-Goodwin has served as an adjunct Legal Practice professor at Texas Tech since 2005. She has also coached the national arbitration teams for Texas Tech since 2008 and has enjoyed seeing two of her arbitration teams win the ABA National Championship in 2008 and 2010.
