Excellence in Legal Research Program

The Law Library at the Texas Tech University School of Law offers a non-credit program in legal research. After meeting the requirements of this program, students can list proudly on their resumes that they have completed the Excellence in Legal Research Program as proof of the research skills they offer prospective employers.

What Does it Take?

To meet the requirements of the Excellence in Legal Research Program, a student must complete six required online classes and four elective online classes of their choosing. Each class consists of an online lecture and demonstration and is followed by a final skills assessment. To earn credit for each class, a student must satisfactorily complete the final skills assessment.

Students may begin the program as early as the second semester of their 1L year and complete the requirements any time before they graduate. Online classes are offered every semester and during the summer session.

When a student completes the program, they will receive a professionally printed certificate suitable for framing.
