Policy and Procedures For Regional Externship Students

Regional Externship Students may participate subject to the following policies:

  • Leadership Assessments: Regional Externship students must complete the leadership assessments required by the program on or before September 22. Please see a set of specific instructions for completing the assessments sent in a separate email.
  • Phase 1: To complete ALLP Phase 1, 3L students must attend 6 large group meetings during the 2013-2014 academic year. Regional Externship students must attend at least 4 of their 6 large group meetings in Lubbock in either fall 2013 or spring 2014. Students may also include the event featuring Justice Wainwright in Spring of 2013 for credit if they attended that event. 2 of the 6 large group sessions can be done remotely, by watching a Lubbock ALLP event that was recorded and placed online. Regional Externship students have two weeks after the event is posted online to watch the video and return the form.
  • Phase 2: To complete ALLP Phase 2, Regional Externship students must attend at least one of the small group workshops in Lubbock during fall 2013 or spring 2014. Regional Externship students must also read the assigned Phase 2 book, Difficult Conversations, within the normal timeframe. However, in lieu of participating in a discussion group, spring 2014 Regional Externship students must write a reflection paper on the book, to be turned in to Professor Batra. Fall 2013 Regional Externship students will be back for the spring book discussion groups and must, therefore, participate in person to complete Phase 2.
  • Phase 3: Regional Externship students must complete a leadership project per the normal guidelines. Absent special circumstances, the final presentation will must still take place in Lubbock.
