Meet the Student Life Staff

John R. Delony

Dr. John Delony serves as the Associate Academic Dean for Student Life for the Texas Tech School of Law. Dr. Delony also teaches graduate courses in the Texas Tech University College of Education and serves on dissertation and master's thesis committees.
Dr. Delony is a seasoned student affairs practitioner with more than 12-years of experience across three different universities. In addition to leading or supervising a broad array of student support and student success departments, over the course of his career Dr. Delony has presented regionally and nationally on a variety of Student Affairs-related topics including Student retention and data usage, strategic planning and assessment, residential living and learning environments, faculty engagement outside of the classroom, student advocacy, and he is a sought after speaker on personal and professional wellness topics.

At Tech Law, Dr. Delony and his team provide support for the success and wellness of Tech Law students. He chairs the Student Support and Emergency Team and manages law student disability support services. He works closely with TTU Campus Life across a number of student support services, including Title IX, BIT, Student Counseling, and Student Medical Services. He serves as the Dean's designee for Honor Code / Student Conduct and works closely with student clubs and organizations. He is currently a member of the following law school committees: Diversity, Equity and Equal Opportunity, Scholarships and Financial Aid, and the Strategic Planning Committee. In 2015, Dr. Delony was selected as a Texas Tech University Distinguished Staff Member Award. Other honors and awards include the Chi Alpha Delta Tech Law Staff member of the Year (2014) and the recent selection as an Emerging Leader for the West Texas Counseling Association (2016). In addition to his work at Tech Law, Dr. Delony is also pursuing a second PhD in Counselor Education & Supervision.

Dr. Delony is also an active member in the local and state community. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Disability Rights, TX, the federally designated legal protection and advocacy agency for people with disabilities in Texas. He is also a member of the Lubbock STAR Care's PNAC Committee and Lubbock Police Department's Victim Services Crisis Response Team.

Erica Lux

Director for Calendar & Events

Erica is the Director for Calendar & Special Events at the law school. She manages Special Events, such as the Honors & Awards Ceremony, Hooding Ceremonies, and 1L Orientation, to name a few. In addition, Erica manages the calendar, room reservation system, and TechLaw Announce for the law school.

A Dallas native, Erica graduated from Texas Tech University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Prior to joining the Law School in 2015, Erica worked for 5 years as a Market Manager in Dallas-Ft. Worth for a test prep company. She is excited to be back in Lubbock and working with the law school community. Erica is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Social Work.
