Standards In Animal Behavior Videography
Shooting:
Keep movements smooth.
Let the camera stand still as much as the behavior will allow.
Use a Tripod:
Get a tripod. Shaky images are sometimes useless and they can not be fixed.
Keep a steady non-shaky hand on tripod. Depending on the model of tripod, gripping the tripod with the hand without a purpose results in a shaky image.
Light Source: A dark image is a bad image.
Make sure the sun is towards your back. The sun is your source of light outdoors.
To avoid silhouetting or backlight images the sun should be in a position relative to your subject. Think of the sun as a spot light on a theatrical stage: Head on is good not more than a 45 degree angle can also be good.
File Size: Think Small
Quick jerky motions or movement at all creates larger file sizes.
Let the camera stand still as much as the behavior will allow.
