Broadcast Journalism

I am Christiana Elgin, a senior broadcast journalism major from Houston. I am completing minors in political science and Spanish, and upon graduation in May 2012 would like to pursue graduate studies in the field of law. Opportunities within the College of Mass Communications and across campus have led me to vast experiences within and beyond the field of journalism.

During the summer and fall of 2010 I served two internships on Capitol Hill with Congressman Pete Olson and Congresswoman Kay Granger. It was at this time I gained a much needed exposure to the importance of details, both in written and verbal communication. Since my time in Washington, I have worked for several media organizations including the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal and Sports Radio 1340. Volunteer commitments with various service organizations such as the Make-A-Wish Foundation and CASA have also played a great role in my collegiate career.

My objectives, both academic and personally, have all shaped who I am as a student and contributing member of society. I am looking forward to my time on the Dean's Student Council.
