Graduate Teaching Assistantships (GTA)

The majority of our graduate students are supported through part-time Graduate Teaching Assistantships (GTA). The beginning stipend is currently $17,000. Additional funds are available in the summer terms of $2,000 each. All supported students received in-state tuition, and most fees are waived or paid by the department. Generally, GTA's are required to teach one or two undergraduate courses once they have accrued 18 graduate credit hours. If graduate students do not have classroom teaching responsibilities, they are given grading or tutoring duties. All M.S. and Ph.D. applicants are considered for GTA positions.
