TTU Faculty!!!
The Museum of Texas Tech, with the Honor's College, is hosting a rare books exhibition called Speaking Volumes—Books and Ideas from 1250-1862, from The Remnant Trust, Inc. Materials in the exhibition include renowned science, religion, and literature titles. Some of these documents and books are available for delivery to and use in your classroom on campus, or you may use a specially arranged classroom at the Museum, allowing a visit to the exhibition as well.
Guidelines:
- To keep the exhibition meaningful for our museum visitors, only six books can leave the exhibition at a time.
- Some books and documents, because of their fragile condition, cannot be removed from the exhibition (see the list of available offerings below).
- Faculty can either have the books brought to their classroom, or may reserve a classroom space at the Museum, set aside for this specific purpose. (Parking at the Museum is free.)
- Only classes of 30 or fewer students may use the Museum classroom.
- Reservations will be recorded in the order in which they are received. (See reservation link below.)
The Role of Invigilators
- Invigilators have specialized training in book history and are trained how to handle the rare materials.
- Invigilators will deliver the books to your classroom, remain with them during your class, and return them to the Museum.
- The invigilator determines how you or your students can use, touch, or view the materials.
