See Red at the Museum. The Texas Tech University Museum Association is sponsoring a Red Style Show by Dillard's, narrated by Brenda Becknell, owner of the Robert Spence Model and Talent Agency.

Red clothing, shoes, jewelry and more will be featured.

The style show and luncheon are in conjunction with the red-themed exhibitions currently on display at the Museum.

The exhibition, "The Red That Colored the World," combines new research and original scholarship to explore the history and widespread use in art of cochineal, an insect-based dye source for the color red, whose origins and use date to the pre-Columbian Americas. The exhibition opens Sept. 18, 2018, and runs through Jan. 17, 2019 at the Museum of Texas Tech University.

The Museum draws on its clothing and textiles collection for the companion exhibition Ladies in Red. The exhibit features red clothing from former first lady Laura Bush and local fashion leaders Margaret Talkington, Louise Underwood, and Carol Krueger Layne.

A third red-themed exhibition, Red, Hot & Quilted the features works from the Caprock Art Quilters. The group challenged themselves to create quilts around the color red.
