The Artist in the Studio

The exhibition provides an opportunity for children and adults to meet artists and to be artists. The Museum of TTU is the first venue for this new exhibition.

Homage to Van Gogh

Leaving Paris behind, Arles in southern France was the place where Van Gogh passionately painted until the end of his life. The Foundation Vincent Van Gogh-Arles has been building a collection of 75 contemporary artworks whose theme is "Homage to Van Gogh," such artists as Francis Bacon, Christo and Jeanne-Claude, David Hockney, Jasper Johns, and Roy Lichtenstein.

Jades and Ivories

This beautiful collection of objects created in ivory and jade is just a portion of the exciting Diamond M Fine Art Collection of the Museum of TTU.

Peter Hurd Paints a Mural

Southwestern regionalist painter Peter Hurd was commissioned in the 1950s to paint a fresco mural in the then museum rotunda (now Holden Hall) at Texas Technological College. He employed the same methods and materials as those used by fresco painters for thousands of years. Preliminary drawings, the "cartoons," and a model of the mural created by Hurd make up this exhibition.

N.C. Wyeth, Illustrator, Friends and Family

Newell Convers Wyeth was one of the early 20th century's most influential American illustrators. His influence extended to his children and other artists of the time such as Andrew Wyeth and Henriette Wyeth-Hurd, and Ann Wyeth McCoy. The exhibition is drawn from the Museum's Diamond M Fine Art Collection.

Medieval Frescoes from the Vatican Museums Collection

Thirty-one medieval frescoes from the Roman churches of St. Nicolai in Carcere (St. Nicholas in Prison) and Saint Agnese fuori le Mura (St. Agnes Outside the Walls). This is a one-time showing of these works in North America.

Sacred Art from the Old and New Worlds

Selected paintings, sculpture, and church silver from the Museo Franz Mayer and Comisión Nacional de Arte Sacro in Mexico City, and the Sarah Campbell Blaffer Foundation of Houston, Texas. This collateral exhibition demonstrates the continuing traditions and influence of the Italian artists in the New World.

Changing Hands art without reservation: Contemporary American Art from the Southwest
Organized by the American Craft Museum, New York

This is the first in a series of three comprehensive exhibitions to be presented over six years by the American Crafts Museum. The exhibition will examine Native American arts in the Southwest, concentrating on cutting-edge work in clay, glass, fiber, metal and wood by 40 emerging and established artists. Organized by the American Craft Museum, New York.

Cool Breezes: Handheld Fans in 20th Century American Advertising, Folk Art, and Fashion

This exhibition displays large, sturdy folding fans built for daily use, as well as fragile and elaborately decorated fans that served as fashion accessories and flirtation tools. It explores the fan as a part of a visually rich design tradition.

This bold endeavor brings together painters who are working in, of , and about the West in a variety of styles and with widely disparate subject matter. In their own words, they are out to "massage, twist, tweak, and sometimes shatter" traditional concepts of the art of the West.

Teddy Bear Reunion and Picnic

A seasonal exhibition of all the teddy bears recruited for 2002 and returning from 2001, with an opening event on Sunday, December 15 from 2-4 PM to celebrate.
