Living with Art: Modern & Contemporary African American Art
Modern and contemporary African American art from the collection of Alitash Kebede. Includes Romare Bearden, Jacob Lawrence, Charles White, Emilio Cruz, and Alma Thomas. A program of Landau Traveling Exhibits, Inc. (60 works: paintings, works on paper, and sculpture.)

Enhancements: Hand-Crafted Functional Objects
This exhibition was curated by Robert Logan and Robert Cugno of the Media Gallery in Garnett, Kansas and is circulated by Exhibits USA. The essence of craft is the celebration of the object as both utilitarian and aesthetic. This exhibition comes complete with educational materials including docent and teacher packets. A program of ExhibitsUSA® with the Texas Commission on the Arts.

Lynwood Kreneck, Printmaker
Professor of printmaking at the Texas Tech Art Department, Lynwood Kreneck has influenced his students in the art of printmaking for many years and this exhibit is a retrospective of the many aspects of his career. This exhibit is a companion to the book by the same title due out next year. (70 works)

Visions for the New Millennium: Wilderness Photography - Focus on Preservation
Clyde Butcher's large format black and white photographs explore his personal relationship with the environment. His images are captured with an 8"x10" - 12"x2O" view camera allowing him to express the elaborate detail and textures that distinguish the intricacy of the landscape. A program of the Smith Kramer Fine Arts Services. (37 works ranging from 3'x4' to 7'x8')

Texas Natural History, 1889-1905
From 1889-1905, a team of federal scientists from the U.S. Bureau of Biological Survey (now U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service) conducted surveys of the plants and animals of Texas in over 200 ecological regions. The exhibition highlights the findings of that survey and compares it to today's flora and fauna.

What is a Basket?
Baskets in every shape and material from a private collection explore the question, "what is a basket?" in a variety of delightful and artistic ways.

Allied Artists of America: An Invitational
From 1914 to the present, Allied Artists of America has been faithful in achieving its goal of furthering the cause of contemporary American art through its annual exhibitions. A program of the Smith Kramer Fine Art Services. (68 works: oil paintings, works on paper, and sculptures)

Return to Route 66: Photographs from the Mother Road by Shellee Graham
Photos and text as to the history of the road of dreamers and ramblers, drifters and writers. The exhibit was the culmination of several photo trips by Shellee Graham to rediscover the "Kicks on Route 66."

Defining Craft 1: Collecting for the New Millennium
Organized and circulated by the Museum of Arts and Design, the exhibition is the first in a series that explore the changing definitions and meanings of craft today. The exhibition also acknowledges the contributions of the many artists and the collectors and patrons who have helped build and shape America's premier collection of craft. (175 works by international artists)

Teddy Bear Picnic and Reunion
A seasonal exhibition of all the teddy bears recruited for 2003 and returning from 2001-02, with an opening event on Sunday, December 13, from 1-3 PM to celebrate.

Jacob Lawrence: Three Series of Prints - Genesis, Hiroshima, and Toussaint L'Ouverture
The exhibition features 44 framed works including 31 color prints and 13 pages of text from the three Series. A program of Landau Traveling Exhibitions.


June 27 - August 22
Through American Eyes: Two Centuries of American Work from the Collection of the Huntington Art Museum
The works presented date from the late 18th century up through the end of the 20th century. Gilbert Stuart, George Inness, Ralph Blakelock, Franz Kline, Robert Motherwell, Edward Hopper, Jim Dine, Louis Comfort Tiffany, Harvey Littleton and Joel Philip Myers are some examples of the artists represented. A program of the Smith Kramer Fine Arts Services. (75 works)
