Graphics by 20th Century Masters from The Cochran Collection
The Cochran Collection is considered by many to be one of the more notable private art collections in the United States. This collection contains an excellent sampling of the various printing techniques from many of the most important printmakers of the 20th century. Artists within this exhibition include Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso, and Andy Warhol among others. The works in this show present an excellent history of printmaking in the last century.

Tools in Motion: Works from the Hechinger Collection
Tools are everyday objects whose design and intrinsic elegance often go unnoticed. This exhibition seeks to display the artistic beauty that can be found in these common implements. Toolsin Motion features 49 works in a variety of mediums and styles from such artists as Jim Dine, Claes Oldenberg, Arman, and Mr. Imagination. This exhibition is sure to change one’s perception of the tool.

Robert Sabuda: Artist and Paper Engineer

The exhibition contains 59 works from illustrator Robert Sabuda, who is famed for his artistically-crafted, best-selling pop-up books Alice in Wonderland and The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. This show will exhibit pencil and watercolor works in addition to 3-D paper forms. The exhibition is sure to please all ages.

Women Only! In Their Studios
Gallery 1
Women Only! is an exhibition that seeks to bring women artists to the forefront. This ensemble of women is rich with talent and diversity. A variety of media, including paintings, photographs, sculpture, quilts and videos serve to demonstrate the diversified backgrounds and cultural heritage of these great female artists. No Boundaries: Contemporary Baskets
Special Exhibitions Gallery
No matter the culture, baskets have been and are used to accomplish a variety of tasks. This exhibition takes the utilitarian, and sometimes artistic, nature of the basket one step further. NoBoundaries presents a variety of baskets constructed and designed in very unconventional ways, often using unconventional materials. This exhibition demonstrates that an ordinary object, when engaged by an artist, may sometimes become extraordinary.

Jasper Johns: Prints from the John and Maxine Belger Family Foundation

Curated by Dr. Peter Briggs, Helen DeVitt Jones Curator of Art, MoTTU
Jasper Johns is one of the greatest artists of the 20th century. This collection exhibits numerous works from 1960 through 2001. The show demonstrates Johns' variety of print techniques, from those introduced by the master printers to those of his own innovation.

Balcony Gallery
Frederic Remington Makes Tracks... : Adventures and Artistic Impressions
Frederic Remington was one of America’s most famous and popular 19th century illustrators and artists. The color halftone prints in this exhibition were illustrations done by Remington for magazines such as Collier’s and Harper’s. This exhibition displays 50 reproduction prints, as well as four sculptures by the artist. press release (pdf)

American Art Pottery from the Moody Collection at the Hickory Museum of Art
This exhibition features pieces from the exceptional collection of Frances and H. Leslie Moody. Fifteen pottery items are included in this exhibition, the largest number of pieces collected from the Rookwood—the pottery that scholars consider to be the best in terms of style and commercial success. press release (.pdf)

Salmagundi Club: An American Tradition
Founded in 1871, the Salmagundi Club is one of America’s oldest art fraternities. Its membership includes many of the nation’s greatest artists: George Inness, William Merritt Chase, Dean Cornwell, Childe Hassam, N.C. Wyeth, Louis Comfort Tiffany, and lay members John Philip Sousa and Stanford White, to name a few. The show displays 67 works, several of which have rarely been exhibited outside the club’s Fifth Avenue establishment. press release (.pdf)

Pocketbook Anthropology: A Treasure of Handbags
The exhibition covers a myriad of styles, materials, and forms of handbags from 1880 to the present, representing memories, emotions, messages, and identities. Funky, elegant, and whimsical bags are featured alongside those made from precious metal, duct tape, cigarette packaging, and glass beads. Hands-on examples and commentary by a fashion historian are included, as well as anecdotes, quips, and literary quotations featured on text panels and labels.

Rooted in Tradition: Art Quilts from the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum
Rooted in Tradition provides an historical look at the evolution of the quilt from 1980 through the present. The exhibition’s 63 quilts by 52 artist reflect the quilt’s move “from the bed to the wall,” as well as its transformation from traditional block style to the “free spirited” and “edgy” art of today.

By Any Means: Works from the National Drawing Invitationals
For 25 years, the Norman R. Eppink Art Gallery at Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas, celebrated the art of drawing in its Annual National Invitational Drawing Exhibition. Inaugurated in 1977, each exhibition brought together exceptional drawings by both established and emerging artists from across the United States. The Eppink Gallery purchased some of the most outstanding works on paper from each year’s Annual, both from well-established artists and from those just beginning to gain recognition. By Any Means consists of 31 representative drawings from this exceptional collection, including works by Donald Roller Wilson, Janis Mars Wunderlich, Robert Stackhouse, Phillip Pearlstein, and Harvey Breverman.
