Have Fun at the Museum

Whether you come alone or with family and friends, your visit to the Museum of Texas Tech University should be fun.

We encourage you to spend as much time as you would like in our galleries. Our museum is a wonderful mix of fine arts, cultural artifacts and natural science, a combination you do not always find in a museum.

While we encourage you to take still pictures and video in the Museum's galleries, flash photography is not allowed. To help protect our artwork and other displays, tripods, monopods and selfie sticks are not permitted in the galleries.

Sketching is allowed in the museum. However, pencils are the only medium allowed.

We have many fragile items in our galleries. To protect the objects for future visitors, we ask that you not touch any objects on display unless otherwise indicated. We also ask that you maintain a safe distance from the objects; 2 to 3 feet is a good rule of thumb.

If you have children under age 12, we ask that you supervise them at all times. We know how children can become distracted, and often tire easily.

Strollers are welcome in the Museum, as are frontal carriers for your infant. You may bring a diaper bag into the Museum, but for safety reasons, backpacks and other large bags are not permitted. There is a secure location at our front desk to leave these items.

We appreciate your help in maintaining our museum. Please check in at our front desk and we encourage you to take a visitor's guide and ask any questions you may have.

Don't forget to visit our Museum Shop at the front of the museum for a variety of books, art, jewelry and other items.

The shop hours are:

  • Tuesday - Friday: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
  • Saturday: 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.
  • Closed Sunday - Monday
