Undergraduate Degree Programs
The School of Music at Texas Tech University offers five undergraduate degrees:
Bachelor of Arts in Music
This degree is for students who choose music as a major within a general liberal arts curriculum.
Bachelor of MusicFields of Specialization: Music (leading toward teacher certification), Composition, Performance, Theory
The performance field of specialization includes concentrations in piano (pedagogy is also available), organ, voice, brass, woodwind, percussion, and stringed instrument. Fields of specializations are also offered in both compositon and theory. The Bachelor of Music (leading toward teacher certification) field of specialization replaces that formerly known as the Bachelor of Music Education.
Specialization in music leading toward teacher certification prepares students to teach choral, instrumental, and general classroom music in kindergarten, elementary, middle, junior high, and senior high schools. This program leads toward an all-level teaching certificate in the state of Texas.

Texas Tech music graduates have distinguished themselves in a variety of ways, from winning Fulbright and other advanced study fellowships to performing professionally. Many are outstanding teachers in public schools, colleges and universities, while others have achieved fame in such specialized areas as electronic music or performance on the Metropolitan Opera stage.
The School of Music is a fully accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Music and offers bachelors, masters, and doctoral degrees in music.
