KALEIDOSCOPE OF CHOIRS
Don't miss the inaugural choral concert of the year, featuring all five all-student ensembles of Texas Tech: University Choir, University
Singers, Women's Chorale, Matador Singers, and the Madrigal (Chamber) Singers – with TTU faculty and all graduate student conductors. This
unique and exciting sound experience is also the debut concert of the University Choir under the direction of Prof. Richard Bjella, the new
Director of Choral Studies at Texas Tech. The concert is on Friday, October 16 at 8 p.m. in Hemmle Recital Hall. Admission is free!
THE LUBBOCK CHORALE & "OLD TURTLE"
On Friday, October 23, the Lubbock Chorale will present a very special arts experience offered particularly for children and families in our
community, but it is also for children of ALL ages and for anyone who loves music, literature, art, and beauty. The theme of the evening is
"Children Will Listen" and features the musical piece SONG OF WISDOM FROM OLD TURTLE, music by Joseph Martin, based on the award-winning
children's book OLD TURTLE by Douglas Wood.
***6:00 p.m. -- MEET THE AUTHOR! Douglas Wood will be our honored guest and will greet the public and sign copies of his books.
***7:00 p.m. -- MUSICAL PERFORMANCE. A true highlight of the evening is that Douglas Wood, the book's author, will be actually narrating
(performing) in the musical work, alongside his brother, Dr. Bruce Wood, who is professor of music education at TTU, conductor of the Lubbock
Youth Symphony Orchestra, and director of our TTU String Project. TICKET INFORMATION (General Admission): Single tickets on sale at
