Performing Ensemble Information

All major performing ensembles at Texas Tech University are open to both music majors and non-music majors. Click the links below for audition materials for all instrumental ensembles as well as schedule and procedure. Fall 2009 Wind/Percussion Auditions Procedure

1. Select Goin' Band for Marching Band audition repertoire, Concert Ensemble for Orchestra or Bands.
2. Goin' Band playing auditions are August 23, 2009.
3. Band and Orchestra wind auditions are August 26-27, 2009.
4. If you are not interested in auditioning for Orchestra, please audition during the BAND ONLY slot.
5. Arrive 5 minutes prior to start time of scheduled audition to draw for an audition order.
6. Auditions are behind a screen and will include prepared excerpts.
7. Results will be posted on the Ensemble bulletin boards outside M102 prior to the first rehearsal.

University Symphony Orchestra Auditions

• Bass, cello, and viola auditions will occur in the morning on Wednesday, August 26, 2009.
• Violin auditions will occur in the morning on Thursday, August 27, 2009.
• Sign-up sheets for specific audition times will be posted on the Orchestra Bulletin Board starting on Monday, August 24, 2009. This board is found just inside the main entrance to the School of Music.
• String auditions will consist of 20-30 seconds from a solo of your choice and required orchestral ensemble music from the first concert.
• To download the required ensemble music and access the recordings, click here to log in. If you didn't receive the login information from your studio teacher or are a non-music major, send an email to orchestra@ttu.edu requesting login information.

University String Orchestra Auditions

• Auditions consist of 1-2 minutes of prepared music of your choice. Plan to attend the introductory meeting on the first Thursday of fall classes at 7pm in room M02, School of Music. After the brief meeting, students can sign-up for an audition time.
