Peter Fischer is an Assistant Professor of Music at Texas Tech
University. He teaches theory, composition, and electronic music. From
1995-2003 he taught at Adams State College in Alamosa, Colorado. With
the help of a five-year Colorado Program of Excellence Grant, Dr.
Fischer built state of the art technology labs, computer music studios,
recording facilities, and smart classrooms at ASC. His recent
compositions include a Violin Concerto, Rings of Crystalline Sky, a
large work for solo piano, Let It Be Forgotten and Never Again for
choir, The Windhover, for mezzo-soprano and tape, and Barcarole, for
mezzo-soprano and piano. A new work for Viola Quintet will be premiered
at the International Viola Congress in Reykjavik, Iceland in June,
featuring the Faculty String Quartet from TTU with soloist Korey Konkol
from the University of Minnesota. Dr. Fischer studied composition with
Dinos Constantinides, Peter Hesterman, and Mark Lee. He studied
electronic and computer music with Stephen David Beck. He completed a
DMA in Music Composition from Louisiana State University in 1996 and
holds degrees in Music and Literature/Communications from Illinois
Benedictine College and a Master’s Degree in Music Composition from
Eastern Illinois University.
