Biography
From San Antonio, TX by way of the military. Lived all around the US and Europe for most of my life. BS in Range, Wildlife and Fisheries Management, Fisheries Management Emphasis from Texas Tech in 2006, M.Ed. in Agriculture Education from Texas State University in 2015, where I currently teach Ag 3321 Range Management and Ag 3330 Applied Wildlife Nutrition
Research interests
Maximizing both economic return and ecological potential of rangelands through blending
of agriculture, range and wildlife management.
How to interest more urban and suburban families into Agriculture and Natural Resource
careers and education programs, especially low income families in the fast growing
areas of Texas.
Research experiences
Up until starting my graduate degree I worked far removed from academia. Through my graduate program I worked on research in agriculture ranging from Golden algae in Aquaculture/Aquaponic systems, Utilization of Return Saltwater from Hydraulic Fracturing (Fracking) process for energy and fiber crops in the Eagle Ford region of Texas, and Utilization of Mesquite as energy, food and fodder crop in South-Central Texas. Currently working on establishing a demonstration garden for urban farmers, targeting low income Hispanic families in Hays County, Texas and teaching agriculture at an after school program through the public housing authority with graduate and undergraduate students.
