The West Texas Mesonet network recently announced the completion of station #81 in Western Nolan County near Sweetwater. This new station is 11 miles southwest of Sweetwater, and will see higher winds than other stations in the area as this one is more than 100 feet higher and located on the edge of the higher terrain of southern Nolan County. It is also located on the northern edge of the large wind farms between Sweetwater and Blackwell.

The station also includes a SODAR unit, and both the Mesonet station and the SODAR data are now online.

The network now includes 81 stations, 56 counties, 2 states and 2 different time zones.

Special thanks go to the City of Sweetwater and the National Weather Service folks in San Angelo and Lubbock, all of whom helped to build this station.
