Texas Tech University :: College of Outreach & Distance Education
Getting Started
Before enrolling, you must be admitted to TTUISD. Download the Admission Form here.

TTUISD administrators and counselors will assist you with course selections as you progress through our school. You can enroll in course(s) online. However, do not register for individual courses without the approval of a TTUISD counselor or administrator. When course registration is complete and paid in full, a Course Guide(s) and Policies and Forms Guide will be mailed to you (or you will receive instructions on how to locate them online). These materials contain all the information you need to complete your course(s).
Finding an approved proctor
Possible proctors include:
  • Public or accredited private school administrators, counselors, or teachers that are approved by TTUISD staff;
  • College, university, or private testing centers that meet with the approval of TTUISD staff;
  • Public librarian; or
  • Certified retired teacher, counselor, or administrator that is approved by the TTUISD staff (a copy of the person's professional certificate will be required).
Requesting a proctor other than those mentioned above may delay the examination application. There is usually a fee for exam proctoring; check at your testing site when scheduling the exam. To maintain the integrity of the examination proctor and the validity of the examination, no student, relative of the student, tutor of the student, or unauthorized person may issue or return your final examination. Once your proctor's signature is on file you do not need to resubmit the signature portion of the form unless you change proctors.
Students Living Outside the U.S.
We recommend that you acquire your materials before leaving the U.S. if possible. A U.S. address expedites the receipt of materials since the shipping time to foreign addresses is usually considerably longer. For shipments outside the contiguous U.S. you will be charged an additional postage fee. You must pay your own postage if you mail assignments from outside the contiguous U.S. There is no additional fee, however, for e-mailing or faxing assignments.

Students with Disabilities
K-12 Students
The Texas Tech University College of Outreach & Distance Education kindergarten through 12th grade curriculum used by TTUISD students, traditional homeschool students, and all other students who enroll through the College is developed to meet the standards of the State of Texas and the Texas Education Agency. Written by Texas-certified teachers for the average and above-average student, this material is very reading-and writing-intensive and thus the course content cannot be modified. Please note that distance education presents different challenges from traditional classroom-based instruction.

If you provide us with documentation about the nature of your disability and the kind of accommodation that your disability requires (as described in further detail below) we can provide you with information about available disability accommodations before you are officially admitted to TTUISD or enroll in a course. Reasonable accommodations are those that do not cause undue burden and do not fundamentally alter course requirements. We require the submission of a current (within the last three years) signed accommodation/modification statement from your Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) committee report, or a 504 Accommodation Form from the public school district in which you reside, describing any special considerations necessary for you to take a course and/or exams.

College Students
If you are a college student, submit documentation that describes the nature of your disability and what accommodations your disability requires.

Please visit Student Disability Services or call 806.742.2405 for specific information on the documentation criteria.
Driver's Education
To request a Texas Education Agency driver's education certification, you must be enrolled as a full-time TTUISD student (four courses) and successfully complete 10 lessons per month.
Student Records/Confidentiality
Outreach & Distance Education respects the privacy of students, school officials and parents and guardians of students under the age of 18 and school officials have legitimate rights of access to a student's record. If a student is 18 or older, information will be released only at the written request of the student. All record requests must be made in writing!
