Wine 101: An Introduction to Wines

Description:
Join us for a great learning opportunity for both the novice and the wine lover alike. Through tasting and lectures, we will examine how and why wines can be so distinct from one another. You will learn about wine production practices and the effective techniques for sensory evaluation. You will acquire the skills necessary to distinguish between multiple levels of wine quality. The course will include three sessions of class time and a private tour of an area winery.

Instructor/Presenter: Michael Sipowicz is employed by Texas AgriLife Extension (formerly Texas Cooperative Extension) as the Enology (winemaking) Program Specialist for the State of Texas. He has been a Texas vineyard owner and is the proprietor of a small wine barrel coopering company. He has 15 years of experience working in all levels of the commercial winemaking and brewing industries throughout Texas as well as in Napa Valley, California.
