Final Grade
Calculating Your Course Grade
- Only completed courses are reported and recorded; there is no academic penalty for failure to complete the course.
- Assignments, a midcourse (college and dual-credit students only), and a final examination comprise a final course grade. If you fail the final examination, you fail the course regardless of assignment grades.
- If you pass the final examination but have a low enough assignment average, the result of the course is a failing grade.
- For TTUISD students, additional information on calculating your course grade can be found in the TTUISD Handbook.
- For elementary students, grading procedures can be found in Tab 1 of the curriculum guide.
Receiving Your Course Grade
Please allow enough time for the course to be recorded before making your request for a grade report.
| Type of Student | Receiving Course Grade and Transcript |
|---|---|
| K-12 student wishing to apply credit to a local school | Your school counselor will receive a monthly report on your progress. A copy of the final grade will be mailed to you and to your school. It is your responsibility to verify that the grade was received and recorded on your official transcript. Only TTUISD students receive an official ODE transcript. |
| High school student enrolled in a dual-credit course | Your school's counselor will receive a monthly report on your progress. A copy of the final grade will be mailed to you, your school, and to the TTU Registrar. To obtain a transcript request form, visit www.reg.ttu.edu. |
| Home-schooled student not enrolled in TTUISD (diploma program) | You will receive a copy of your final grade. |
| TTUISD student (elementary, middle, and high school diploma program) | You will receive a grade report and the grade will be recorded on your TTUISD transcript. TTUISD students who have completed a minimum of four courses (not including CBEs) may request a copy of their transcripts by ttuisd.registrar.ode@ttu.edu or by faxing a request to 806.742.7288. |
| Texas Tech University resident student (college student pursuing a degree from Texas Tech University) | You will receive a copy of the final grade. The final grade will also be recorded on an official Texas Tech University transcript. The final course grade will be used in calculating your GPA. |
| College student enrolled at another university or student not currently pursuing a degree from Texas Tech University | You must request that a copy of your transcript be sent to your college. To obtain a transcript request form, contact the Registrar's Office. |
Receiving Your CBE Percentage of Mastery Score
Texas-certified instructors will grade CBEs, usually within five working days of arrival. A percentage of mastery score will be mailed to you and to your school. Schools use the percentage of mastery score to determine whether or not to award credit. Schools that order examinations for a number of students through our bulk CBE service will receive both grade report copies (school and student) for distribution. The minimum passing score for these examinations is determined by local district policy. Check with your school administrators to determine your school's policy.
Textbook Refunds and Buying Back Books
If you withdraw from a course and return your textbooks (postmarked) within 30 calendar days after your enrollment, you will receive a 100% refund. After 30 days or after completing the course, we will purchase back our textbooks if they are still being used for the course and are in condition to be resold. Visit the online bookstore to verify that the textbooks are still being used and to obtain a buy-back price. Unless otherwise stated, we do not buy back workbooks, course guides, supplies, tapes, or videos. To guarantee delivery, books must be returned by insured parcel post or United Parcel Service (UPS). Please allow two to four weeks from our receipt of the books to process payment.
