REVIEW THE POLICIES & FORMS GUIDE BEFORE ENROLLING
It is your responsiblity to make sure CBEs taken through CODE will be accepted by your school. Obtain approval from a counselor or principal before enrolling.Failure to receive approval may result in your school not granting credit for the CBEs you have taken. You must abide by all of CODE's policies & procedures.
Prepare for the examination
The CBE review sheets include a few sample questions (and in many cases, sample examinations), explain the format of examinations in detail, and suggest helpful textbooks to review. The review sheets will also contain a detailed list of items you must bring to the examination. CBE review sheets are not comprehensive and do not cover all the material in the tests. We recommend that you download review sheets when you register for your examination to ensure you receive the most current versions.
Access CBE Review Sheets.
PURCHASE TEXTBOOKS (OPTIONAL)
You do not have to order textbooks to study for a CBE, since CBEs are not tied to specific textbooks. If you wish to refer to a textbook, you may use any Texas state-adopted textbook.

Contact an Approved Proctor
Normally, the proctor is an official at your school. Tutors or officials from non-accredited schools cannot proctor
CBEs. CBEs will be sent to your approved designated proctors. You must take the test at the time agreed upon
with the proctor, who will then mail it back to CODE. Proctors usually charge a fee for examination proctoring;
check at the testing-site when scheduling the examination. No persons related to you may proctor, handle or
return your examination. If you live outside the United States, or for more testing-site options, contact our office.
Take The Examination
You have 60 days to take your CBE once the enrollment is processed. No extensions or refunds will be granted for CBEs. Make arrangements with your school official to take your examination with an approved proctor BEFORE the expiration date. CBEs that expire during the summer months cannot be taken when school resumes without re-enrollment.
Receive A Percentage of Mastery Score
Texas-certified instructors will grade CBEs, usually within five working days of arrival. A percentage of mastery score will be mailed to you and to your school. Schools use the percentage of mastery score to determine
whether or not to award credit. Schools that order examinations for a number of students through our Testing
Services (Bulk CBEs) will receive both grade report copies (school and student) for distribution. The minimum
passing score for these examinations is determined by local district policy. Check with your school administrators
to determine your school's policy.
