The School of Nursing is located in the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Centera legally separate institution from Texas Tech University. Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center has four campuses throughout West Texas. The School of Nursing offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree at the Lubbock campus and an RN to BSN degree completion for registered nurses at the Lubbock and Permian Basin campuses, as well as at six distance learning sites. Additionally, the school offers a Master of Science in Nursing degree, Family Nurse Practitioner Program, a collaborative Family Nurse Practitioner Masters Program with the University of Texas at Tyler and, with the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, a doctorate in nursing. The school's programs are accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission and the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing. For students who are not registered nurses, the baccalaureate degree program at the Health Sciences Center offers the student the opportunity to complete the degree in seven consecutive semesters, with admission once each year during the second summer session. You may request a School of Nursing Bulletin by calling (806) 743-2737 for admission requirements, application deadlines, and prerequisite courses.

The School of Nursing offers unique opportunities for the student to receive the latest state-of-the-art nursing education, especially related to the geriatric client and community-based rural experiences. The learning resource center for the School of Nursing is recognized as one of the finest simulation centers in Texas, as well as across the nation. This offers the student the ability to learn skills using the most current technology.

A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.25 is required to be considered for admission. Generally, credits earned at an accredited college or university are accepted for transfer provided the course content is equivalent to those required. A grade below C is not acceptable for transfer credit. Non-nursing courses must be completed prior to enrollment in the program.

Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program. This program is designed for registered nurses. Teaching methodologies may include web-based courses, web-enhanced courses, and traditional classroom instruction. A concerted effort is made to individualize the program to meet the needs of the learners, and classes are exclusively designed for the registered nurse. The RN to BSN program can be completed in one year, or on a two-year part-time basis, with admission each fall and spring. Applicants to any degree program on the Lubbock campus should identify the program to which they seek admission and should then determine their basic eligibility for consideration at that level.
