School of Law Scholarship

In addition to general grants and loans available to law students from the Office of Student Financial Aid of the University, some scholarships specially designated for law students are available from the School of Law. For application forms and information write to the Office of Admissions, School of Law. Entering students should return completed applications no later than February 1 for earliest consideration. Applications for scholarships for advanced students are considered in June.

Robert Cabaniss Goodwin
Premedical Scholarship

For deserving junior or senior premedical students with minimum 3.5 GPA who have completed at least one semester at Texas Tech. Amount is $250 annually.

Established by former students and friends of Dr. Goodwin in appreciation of his unselfish contributions to the welfare of Texas Tech in his capacity as faculty advisor of the Premedical Club and of Texas Gamma Chapter of Alpha Epsilon Delta and as Chairperson of the Department of Chemistry, Dean of the Graduate School, Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences, Vice President, and President of Texas Tech. Administered by the Preprofessional Health Careers Advisory Committee. Application deadline: February 1.

Dr. E. W. Jones
Premedical Scholarship

For deserving junior or senior premedical students with minimum 3.5 GPA who have completed at least one semester at Texas Tech. Amount varies annually (renewable).

Established by Mr. and Mrs. Lee C. O'Neil of Lubbock, in memory of Dr. E. W. Jones. Administered by the Preprofessional Health Careers Advisory Committee. Application deadline: February 1.

Melissa Jones Undergraduate
Memorial Scholarship for
Academic Excellence

For entering or first-year female undergraduates with a minimum ACT score of 24 or SAT1 score of 1100 who are majoring in an area of biological or chemical science in premedical studies. Renewable if cumulative 3.5 GPA is maintained. Amount is $250 annually.

Established by Mr. and Mrs. Randal Patterson of Odessa, TX, in memory of Melissa Jones. Administered by the College of Arts and Sciences. Application deadline: February 1.

Lubbock Area Pharmaceutical
Association Scholarship

For a deserving prepharmacy student who is a Texas resident and has completed at least one semester at Texas Tech. Based on scholastic achievement and need. Amount is $100.

Established by the Lubbock Area Pharmaceutical Association. Administered by the Preprofessional Health Careers Advisory Committee. Application deadline: February 1.

Margret Stuart Premedical Scholarship

For deserving junior or senior premedical students with a minimum 3.5 GPA who have completed at least one semester at Texas Tech. Amount is $500 annually.

Established by former premedical students, members of the Premedical Society, and members of the Texas Gamma Chapter of Alpha Epsilon Delta in appreciation of Miss Stuart's service to premedical education at Texas Tech University. Administered by the Preprofessional Health Careers Advisory Committee. Application deadline: February 1.

Robert and Marion Wimmer
Premedical Scholarship

For a deserving premedical student. Based on need, scholastics, and personal integrity. A good physician must have compassion in addition to intelligence. Medicine is truly an art; science and technology are only tools with which to perform that art. Amount varies annually.

Established by Patrick J. Wimmer, M.D. in honor of Robert and Marion Wimmer. Administered by the Preprofessional Health Careers Advisory Committee. Application deadline: February 1.

Barkes Scholarship in Museum Science

For a qualified student in the museum science program. Based on demonstrated need and career promise as determined by the Scholarship Committee for the Museum. Amount is $200 (nonrenewable).

Established by James and Eunice Barkes of Midland, TX. (Ms. Barkes is alumna of the program.) Preference is given to students specializing in anthropology, archaeology, or ethnology curation and research. Application deadline: August 1 (fall); December 1 (spring).

Kevin M. Harris Memorial Museum Science Scholarship Fund

For qualified students in the museum science program. Based on demonstrated need and career promise as determined by the Scholarship Committee for the Museum. Amount is $200 (renewable).

Established by the family of Kevin Harris in his memory. A graduate of Cornell University, Kevin was a student in the museum science program and had previously served as an Education Associate at the Museum of Science, Boston, and was a Museum Fellow at the Rochester Museum and Science Center, Rochester, NY. At the time of his death, he was working as an archaeological assistant at the Lubbock Lake Landmark. Application deadline: August 1 (fall); December 1 (spring).

Scholarship

For qualified students in museum science or related disciplines with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Awarded to students with a special interest in archaeology and the Lubbock Lake Landmark. Amount is $1,000 (renewable).

Established by the Lubbock Lake Landmark volunteers in 1989. Application deadline: June 30.

Enhancement Endowment

For qualified students in the museum science program. Award is renewable contingent upon maintenance of successful scholastic progress. Amount is $1,000.

Established by the Helen Jones Foundation of Lubbock. Application deadline: August 1 (fall); December 1 (spring).

For graduate students in the museum science program. Award may be renewed as long as satisfactory scholastic progress is maintained. Amount is $1,000 per year.
