[SGNL 1301, 1302, 1401, 1402, 1501, 1502] Beginning Course in American Sign Language I and II (3:3:1 each). Introduction and development of receptive and expressive language skills in American Sign Language. 2000 Level Courses2301, 2302. [SGNL 2301, 2302] Second Course in American Sign Language III and IV (3:3:0 each). Prerequisite: ASL 1301 and 1302. Development of intermediate receptive and expressive skills in American Sign Language. 3000 Level Courses3301, 3302. Third Course in American Sign Language V and VI (3:3:0 each). Prerequisite: ASL 2302 for 3301 and 3301 for 3302. Development of advanced expressive and receptive ASL skills. English-ASL translation. 3312. Introduction to Deaf Culture and Linguistics (3:3:0). Prerequisite: ASL 2302. Overview of deaf culture and history including deaf community values and issues. ASL linguistic structure. Fulfills multicultural requirement. 4000 Level Courses4300. Individual Studies in ASL (3). Prerequisite: ASL 2302. Independent study in American Sign Language under the guidance of a faculty member. May be repeated for credit up to 9 hours with consent of instructor. |
