1100. Dance Production Activities (1). Participation in a dance production as a performer, designer, or crew member. Must be concurrently enrolled in a dance technique course. May repeat twice for credit.
1101. [DANC 1110, 1210] Tap I (1). A study of basic tap dance techniques, performance, and choreography. May be repeated once for credit.
1103. [DANC 1147, 1247, 1347]. Jazz I (1). A study of basic jazz dance techniques, performance, and choreography. May be repeated once for credit.
1105. [DANC 1141, 1241, 1341]. Ballet I (1). A study of basic ballet dance techniques, performance, and choreography. May be repeated once for credit.
1106. Conditioning for Performers (1). An introduction to systems of physical conditioning specific to the needs of dance and theatre performers. May be repeated once for credit.
1108. Hip Hop (1). A study of basic hip hop dance techniques, performance, and choreography. May be repeated once for credit.
1109. [DANC 1145, 1245, 1345] Modern I (1). A study of basic modern dance techniques, performance, and choreography. May be repeated once for credit.

2105. [DANC 1142] Ballet II (1). Prerequisite: DAN 1105 or consent of instructor. A study of beginning/intermediate ballet dance techniques, performance, repertory, and choreography. May be repeated for credit.
2109. [DANC 1146] Modern II (1). Prerequisite: DAN 1109 or consent of instructor. A study of beginning/intermediate modern dance techniques, performance, repertory, and choreography. May be repeated for credit.

3000. Special Topics in Dance (V1-3). Prerequisite: Consent of instructor. Introduction to special topics in dance for in-depth study. May be repeated for up to 6 credit hours with different topics; only 3 hours of credit will be applied to the B.A. in Dance.
3100. Dance Production Activities II (1). Prerequisites: DAN 1100, 3208, 3209. Participation in a dance production as a choreographer. May be repeated once for credit.
3101. Tap II (1). Prerequisite: DAN 1101 with a grade of B or higher or consent of instructor. A study of intermediate/advanced tap dance techniques, performance, and choreography. May be repeated once for credit.
3103. Jazz III (1). Prerequisite: DAN 2103 or consent of instructor. A study of intermediate jazz dance techniques, performance, repertory, and choreography. May be repeated for credit.
3105. Ballet III (1). Prerequisite: DAN 2105 or consent of instructor. A study of intermediate ballet dance techniques, performance, repertory, and choreography. May be repeated for credit.
3109. Modern III (1). Prerequisite: DAN 2109 or consent of instructor. A study of intermediate modern dance techniques, performance, repertory, and choreography. May be repeated for credit.
3208. Principles of Choreography I (2). Prerequisites: DAN 2103 or 3103, and 2105 or 3105, and 2109 or 3109, and 2202 with a grade of B or higher or consent of instructor. An introduction to and practical application of basic principles and skills of dance making.
3209. Principles of Choreography II (2). Prerequisite: DAN 3208 or consent of instructor. An exploration of skills and techniques used to hone choreographic style and process.
3301. Dance Aesthetics (3). Prerequisite: DAN 3313 with a grade of C or higher. An investigation of history and trends in dance theory, research, and philosophy. (Writing Intensive)
3309. Pedagogy (3). Prerequisite: DAN 3313 with a grade of C or higher. Investigation and practical application of contemporary teaching theories and methodologies. (Writing Intensive)
3313. Dance History (3). History and philosophy of dance and the relationship of dance to allied arts. Fulfills core Visual and Performing Arts requirement.Back to Top

4000. Projects in Dance (V1-3). Prerequisite: Consent of instructor. Designed for students interested in pursuing guided independent projects in dance. May be repeated for up to 6 credit hours.
4103. Jazz IV (1). Prerequisite: DAN 3103 or consent of instructor. A study of advanced jazz dance techniques, performance, repertory, and choreography. May be repeated for credit.
4105. Ballet IV (1). Prerequisite: DAN 3105 or consent of instructor. A study of advanced ballet dance techniques, performance, repertory, and choreography. May be repeated for credit.
4109. Modern IV (1). Prerequisite: DAN 3209. Corequisite: DAN 3100. Production of a fully realized dance concert and completion/presentation of a professional portfolio.
4110. Capstone Concert (1). Prerequisite: DAN 3208 and 3209 with a grade of B or higher and consent of instructor. Production and presentation of a video portfolio or choreography and performance.
4202. Contact Partnering (2). Prerequisites: DAN 2202; and 3103 or 4103; and 3105 or 4105; and 3109 or 4109 with a grade of A or consent of instructor. A study of contact partnering skills, techniques, and improvisations as practiced in contemporary dance. May be repeated once for credit.
4208. Advanced Choreography Workshop (2). Prerequisites: DAN 3208 and 3209 with a grade of B or higher or consent of instructor. An in-depth workshop focusing on creating, performing, and critiquing choreography. May be repeated once for credit.
4301. World Dance Forms (3). A study of dances from different cultures, their histories, and their influences on contemporary American dance and culture. Fulfills core Visual and Performing Arts requirement.
4313. Topics in Dance History (3). Prerequisite: DAN 3313 or consent of instructor. An in-depth investigation of particular topics in dance history with a focus on the roles of dance in a larger cultural context. May be repeated once for credit.Back to Top
