General Questions:

Q. When is Family Weekend?

A. September 29-30, 2023

Q.  Do we have to register to attend Family Weekend?

A. No – there is no requirement to register to attend Family Weekend. There are football and event tickets available for purchase. Visit the main Family Weekend page for football and event ticket information. The Texas Tech Parents Association may require registration and payment for their events--see www.texastechparents.org for more information. 

Q.  Are there any free events during Family Weekend?

A.  Yes! There are plenty of free activities during Family Weekend, including the Red Raider Family Ice Cream Social on Friday afternoon hosted by Parent & Family Relations, the Friends and Family Night at the SUB hosted by Student Activities Board, and the Raider Alley Tailgate four hours before the football game that features live music, free activities, and food and beverages for purchase.  Admission to the Texas Tech Museum is free.  Check the Family Days Calendar for other suggestions of things to do while you're here.

Q. I can't find a hotel room.  What should I do?

A. Hotels on football weekends fill up quick.  Some families may cancel reservations, so keep trying.  You can contact Visit Lubbock and they may be able to help find vacancies. 806-747-5232. Q. My family can't come to Family Weekend.  What are other times we could visit?

A. Any time! If you enjoy the football game atmosphere, come during any home game.  The Homecoming game will have lots of extra activities.  This year's Homecoming Game is the Kansas State game on October 14th, 2023.  Bookmark www.depts.ttu.edu/sub/homecoming for details. The First Friday Art Trail is a great time to visit – the first Friday of every month.  Free entrance to art galleries, live music, and food trucks.  Visit www.ffat.org for details.  Carol of Lights is also a wonderful time to visit and see our campus lit up with over 25,000 lights for the holidays.  Visit www.depts.ttu.edu/housing/caroloflights for details to come. Q. Where do I find information about Texas Tech Parents Association events during Family Weekend?

A. Visit their website at www.texastechparents.org for information about membership and Family Weekend event tickets, t-shirts, etc.

Q. When will you share the date for next year's Family Weekend?

A. We usually can announce the date for Family Weekend in the middle of the Spring semester, after the football schedule is finalized and Texas Tech Athletics has designated a home game for Family Weekend. Make sure you are registered for the Red Raider Family Newsletter to find out as soon as the date is set. 

 

Football Game:

Q. How do I purchase football tickets for Family Weekend?

A.  Discounted tickets to the Family Weekend football game are available at the Texas Tech Athletic Ticket Office Website.  Enter the Promo Code FAMILY23 for a $35 ticket. Please note: If you would like your Texas Tech student to sit with you at the game, you will need to purchase them a ticket. TTU Students have free admission to TTU athletic events with their Student ID, but must sit in the student section.From a cell phone, please use this link instead - the promo code will already be applied.

Q. The football game still has “TBD” for the kickoff time.  When will we know?

A. Depending on TV contracts, it could be 1-2 weeks prior to the game before we know the kickoff time.

Q. Do I need to buy a football ticket for my student?

A. Only buy a football ticket for your student if you want them to sit next to you. Students are admitted to Texas Tech games free with their Tech ID and sit in the student section.

Q. I need accessible seating for the football game, but the online ordering won't let me select specific seats. What do I do?

A. For assistance with ADA seating, please call the Athletic Ticket office at 806-742-8324 and mention the Promo Code FAMILY23.

Q. What can we bring to Jones AT&T Stadium?

A. Visit this site for up-to-date gameday information, including the Clear Bag Policy and prohibited items: https://texastech.com/sports/2016/6/8/sports-m-footbl-football-gameday-html (this site generally updates about a week out from the game with specifics, but the general information is the same for each game).

Q. What should I wear to the game?

A. Red and Black! Sometimes, Athletics will announce a color theme for the game about a week or two out. Weather in Lubbock can change rapidly, so check the weather forecast before traveling and before heading to the game.

 

Parking:

Q. Where do we park during Family Weekend?

A.  For gameday, refer to the Gameday parking map – there is FREE fan parking and free ADA parking available. These lots are not near the stadium, but there is $5 bus service to and from the stadium and you can access the free Raider Alley Tailgate by taking the bus as well. 

On Friday - If your student lives on campus and has a vehicle, have them pick you up and bring you to visit their residence hall, attend the Ice Cream Social, or just enjoy walking on campus. Note that only cars with permits to park in the residence halls may park there. There is also paid visitor parking available on Friday: 

General visitor parking information (NOT for Gameday parking - some lots not available Friday nights prior to football games, during football and basketball games, etc.) Attendants at campus entrances can direct you to visitor parking between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

If taking Uber or Lyft on Friday - ask to be taken to the TTU Library - this will drop you off near the Student Union for the Ice Cream Social. Non-faculty and staff vehicles including Uber/Lyft cannot drive on campus between 8:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

On Sunday - many lots will be available on Sundays - watch signage and remember not to park in residence hall lots - those are only for students with permits for those lots.
