How To Get Involved...

Texas Tech Seal

Being an involved parent is more crucial now than ever. Students need to know they have support as they navigate college life and strive to excel in a competitive arena. Research studies have shown that the more parents are involved, the more likely it is a student will remain enrolled and proceed to graduation. Parent involvement at Texas Tech is encouraged!

Two organizations exist that help you stay involved. The following should help you understand the two and become more educated about how Texas Tech strives to serve its parents and family members.

The Office of Parent and Family Relations

Parent and Family Relations is university department that is funded by student service fees. This office employs four full-time staff members and two student assistants. The goal of Parent and Family Relations is to work with Texas Tech Parents Association leadership to create events, involvement opportunties, and informative communication for Texas Tech parents, family members, and students. We help plan events, field phone calls, provide administrative oversight for the "parent and family initiative" on campus and help parents and family members understand and relate better to their students. We are truly your on-campus connection.

The Texas Tech Parents Association

Tech Parents sponsors major events throughout the year such as Family Weekend and the Spring Scholarship and Awards Breakfast and offers 57 scholarships each academic year to deserving students. This is a non-profit organization whose Board of Directors works closely with Parent and Family Relations to serve parents, families, and their students. Tech Parents encourages parents to join local chapters and get involved with other Tech parents in their area.
