College Student Survey (CSS)
College Student Survey (CSS) administered in cooperation with the Higher Education Research Institute (HERI) located in the University of California Los Angeles.
The CSS is designed to help assess how students have changed since entering college. The survey contains 15 measures of self assessed academic, social, intellectual, and emotional capabilities, and measures of academic success. When combined with the CIRP Freshman Survey data, the CSS serves as a longitudinal measure of growth in students.
How colleges use the CSS:
- Evaluate student satisfaction (with coursework, faculty, staff, administrative services and campus life);
- Collect information on academic and extracurricular experiences of college students (time diary of activity);
- Measure retention (leave of absence, withdraw or transfer),
- Understand students’ values, attitudes, and goals, and;
- Study specific campus issues (by use of 20 additional questions).
