Tech Transfer Acceleration Program

Purpose: TTAP provides a comprehensive and structured learning experience to Texas Tech University provisional students, which in turn will furnish the skills needed to increase their retention status, satisfaction, and overall academic performance. Provisional students are defined as those students who have applied to Texas Tech University and are allowed to attend courses for the Fall 2009 semester with the condition they successfully complete the TTAP program and other related expectations of provisional status.




The TTAP program is designed to facilitate the transition from high school to university life for students who have been provisionally accepted to Texas Tech University. Students who participate in TAP will be required to enroll in three 3-hour General Degree Requirement courses along with a specifically designed TTAP course and a IS 1101 course during Fall 2009.

Expected Outcomes: After successful completion of the TAP Program, the students will have increased knowledge about the available resources on campus, will have received a high quality semester experience, will have connected to Texas Tech University, and will be prepared for successful admittance to Texas Tech University.

Program Outline: To be considered for participation in TTAP, a student must meet specific criteria and must apply for regular freshman admission to both Texas Tech University and South Plains College. Students who are not offered regular freshman admission to Texas Tech may be offered an alternate admissions option through the TTAPP program. Nonresidents are not eligible to participate in TTAP. Applicants admitted to the TTAP program, will be required to co-enroll in 12 credit hours at South Plains College and a 1 credit hour transfer seminar at Texas Tech during their first semester of the program. South Plains College courses that are part of this program will be offered on the Texas Tech campus. At the conclusion of the first semester in the program, students who have completed all 13 credit hours with a cumulative 2.5 or higher grade point average will be fully admitted to any academic college at Texas Tech University without an additional application process. TTAP students will participate in on-campus housing have access to most student service programs on both campuses. Eligible students receive financial aid through South Plains College in their first semester of the program and thereafter through Texas Tech.
