Enrollment Criteria and Registration Process
All students who aim for collegiate and professional success are encouraged to register in XL. The following students are required to register for XL:
- freshmen who do not achieve a 2.0 GPA their first semester at Texas Tech & have less than 12 hours of transfer credit.
- all students returning from academic suspension.
- all students previously required to enroll in XL but did not complete the course because of nonattendance or other reasons.
- all students previously required to enroll in XL but failed the course.
You can register for XL in person or by phone at 742-3928. Please clear all other holds before attempting to register for XL. Details are available at the XL office (Holden Hall 56).
Freshmen who are required to register for XL will receive notice with their first semester's final grades. Returning students required to take XL receive a letter from Admissions informing them of a hold on their registration.
If you are one of these students, you must do the following before you can register for other University courses:
- meet with your advisor and arrange your semester schedule, then call or come by the XL Office to enroll in XL (the office has a list of available sections)
- students required to register for XL must do so by the final day of the drop/add period
