Petroleum Engineering Capital Campaign

The past five years have seen a rapid growth in enrollments of students seeking petroleum engineering degrees to meet the high demand in the industry. For example, the TTU petroleum engineering student population has more than doubled in the past five years. Yet, just as faculty demand to educate our students is increasing, companies are taking faculty out of academe with high salaries and signing bonuses. Fifty-five of the 241 petroleum engineering faculty positions across the nation are currently vacant. This scenario is leading to an industry crisis.

Yet, without a sufficient number of faculty, TTU—as well as the other U.S. petroleum engineering programs—cannot educate the workforce or the future faculty that are critical to the nation and world’s oil and gas industry.

We invite you to be a part of the Petroleum Engineering Capital Campaign and support our legacy in petroleum engineering. By partnering with Texas Tech University’s College of Engineering, you will help us support current faculty, attract future faculty and students, and build the research capabilities of the program.

We must acquire and engage inspiring faculty who will attract the finest undergraduate and graduate students to our classrooms and research laboratories—faculty with diverse experiences and backgrounds, intellectual curiosity and creativity, personal initiative, leadership skills, and strength of character.
