Connecting to PESERVER

The petroleum engineering department maintains a server for student use in courses. The name of this server is PESERVER. It is on the Texas Tech University network, on the TTU Domain. This means that students must use their university appointed "eraider" username and password. Instructions for connecting depend on where you are connecting to the server from.

Connecting from off campus

Configure a VPN to connect to TTUnet. Instructions can be found here, or call 742-HELP (806-742-4357) for the TTU IT Helpdesk.

On campus, or connected VPN

Step I  
Click on start Start or Start
Step II  
Goto "Search" Main Menu
Step III  
Under the left search column, it should ask what you would like to search for. Click on Computers or People. Search
Step IV  
After this step, click "A computer on the network". Then type "peserver.pe.ttu.edu" under computer name and click search. Search Results
   
The server should have shown up in this step. If not, you might also try searching for 129.118.21.73. If neither of these methods work, check to be sure that you are on the Texas Tech University Network.
   
Step V  
Click on the peserver.pe.ttu.edu listed in the search window. It will prompt you for your username and password. Please use "TTU\eraider", where eraider is your eraider username. Put your eraider password in the password box. User Name and Password
Step VI  
Once this window goes away, you should be greeted with: Folders
   
Congratulations, you are now connected to the Student Server. Browse to the desired folder and use as you would use any folder on your computer. Write access is denied except in your personal folder. Read access should only be allowed in authorized folders.
