Olu Fasesan

Olu Fasesan, a graduate student in the Department of Petroleum Engineering, he has recently won several awards at different Graduate Student competitions in 2005 amongst which are the SPE Graduate Student competition, the Canadian International Petroleum Society Graduate Student Competition and also the AADE Student Competition., with a paper entitled “Incremental improvements in 50:50 Poz yields enhanced properties and cost effective application.”. This work forms a part of his research with Dr. Lloyd R. Heinze, Associate Professor of Petroleum Engineering at Texas Tech University.

“The graduate school perfectly meets my motivation for graduate studies which stems from my desire to create new knowledge through research in my field of interest, build close relationship between school and industry, to train my ability to pass knowledge to others, be at the cutting edge of world research, to translate new development and advances into engineering principles”

The above named paper was able to solve a 50 year long industry problem by replacing bentonite with a certain percentage of Sodium Meta silicate. Overall cost on well cementing operations was reduced and performance and qualify increased. The approach is currently been applied all over the Oil and Gas industry. The major objective of the graduate faculty at the department of Petroleum Engineering is to provide the best combination of relevant courses, research initiatives, scholarly activities, and support channels to meet the needs and interests of the individual graduate student.
