Selecting applicants to interview

All applicants must be referred via the Texas Tech Jobs Online Hiring System and meet the MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, i.e. education, experience and training in order to be considered for the position. This is an optimal time to check applicants preferred qualifications, because this will also help your search.

With this in mind, you must first determine if it is feasible to interview every applicant. We suggest you develop a set of job-related weighted criteria to measure each application you receive. Review the PDQ, and website posting and identify the skills and elements most desired by the department, and select the applicants who most fit those needs. A Hiring Matrix and Tutorial to the matrix have been provided to assist in developing weighted criteria.

All applicants are required to certify the application upon completion, indicating “the information is true, complete, and correct, and that any misstatement, falsification, or omission of information will be sufficient grounds for rejection of the application, or termination of employment.”

The Employment Office conducts audits on applications referred to departments, and of positions that have been filled. Applicants hired are reviewed to determine that they meet the Minimum Qualifications of the positions for which they have been hired.
