Curriculum Vita
Dr. Nelson Dometrius is Professor
of Political Science at Texas Tech University. He
received his A.B. from the University of Redlands, his M.A.
from California State University, San Diego, and his Ph.D.
from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.
Professor Dometrius Joined the Texas Tech faculty in 1978
and has served over the years as Director of Graduate
Studies, MPA Program Director, Director of the Center for
Public Service, and Chair of the Department in 1979 and joined the Texas
Tech faculty in 1978.
His area of specialization is
American politics with an emphasis on comparative state
politics. American governorship. He has published
books Social Statistics and Texas Politics & Policy:
His articles have appeared in American Journal of
Political Science, American Politics Quarterly,
Congress & the Presidency, Economics of Education
Review, Journal of Politics, Political
Science and Politics, Political Research Quarterly,
Public Administration Review, Social Science
Quarterly, State Government, State Politics
and Policy Quarterly, and other journals. He has
served in the past on the editorial boards of The Journal
of Politics and the Texas Journal of Political
Studies, and continues to serve today on the editorial
board of State Politics and Policy Quarterly.
As part of his service to the
community, Professor Dometrius also served as a founding
Board Member and current Advisory Council Member of Kairos
Outside Lubbock, a community prison ministry.
