Department of Political Science Scholarships
Maxine Durrett Earl Foundation Scholarship
This generous award goes to two upper division political science students who meet the following criteria:

GPA above 2.5
-
Preference to students from Garza County and then to the surrounding counties of the South Plains.

Preference will be given to student with financial need.

Two awards will be made in the amount of $5,000 each.
J. William Davis Scholarship (#2100-44-2403)
Awarded to two full-time
students majoring in political science with a
minimum grade point average of 3.0 overall.
Financial need may be considered, but not required.
One scholarship is to be awarded to a junior,
senior, or graduate student and carries the
requirement to be a member of Pi Sigma Alpha. The
second scholarship is open to freshman and sophomore
political science majors, who would not be members
of Pi Sigma Alpha, showing great promise in the
study of politics.

Kent Presson Scholarship (#413X-44-8267)
Awarded to full-time
graduate or undergraduate students seeking a major
in political science based on scholastic ability,
leadership. and past accomplishments. Financial need
may be considered, but is not required.

Dr. William A. Jackson Scholarship (#412Q-44-8223)
Awarded if possible to a full-time graduate student in the department of political science who seeks a degree with either a major or minor in political science and to persons who seek admission to the University for the purpose of obtaining such a degree. Consideration shall be to scholastic ability, leadership, past accomplishments, the potential for future accomplishments, and the person's need for financial assistance, without regard to priority of any of these factors, but always keeping in mind what is best for the University.

Rushing Family Scholarship in Political Science (#4 l3L-44-8254)
Awarded to full-time
undergraduate students seeking a major in political
science. Minimum of award is $200.
Established by the W.B. "Dub'' Rushing family. Mr. Rushing was an earlier graduate of Texas Tech and has been a long-time supporter of the University and its students.

Gordon Treadway Scholarship (#4389-44-8100)
Awarded annually to one
or more graduate or undergraduate students who have
demonstrated a strong interest in a public service
career. Recipients shall be selected on the basis of
need for financial assistance, scholastic ability,
leadership, past accomplishments and individual
potential without regard to priority of any of'
these standards, but those making the selection
shall always keep in mind what is best for the
student and what is best for the University. Minimum
amount of award is $200.

R. Guy Carter Scholarship - Political Science

Awarded to full-time undergraduate or graduate students majoring in political science.
Established in honor of R. Guy Carter, an attorney, political science alumnus, and member of Texas Tech's first graduating class in 1928. Administered by the Department Scholarship Committee and the Alumni Association. Separate department application form required.
