MPA Program Honors Alumnus:                                  Lubbock Mayor Tom Martin

Tom Martin

The Public Administration Program at Texas Tech recently honored Lubbock Mayor Tom Martin as outstanding alumnus.  Mayor Martin has had an exemplary career in public service and has made a distinct contribution to the betterment of society.  He served 28 years in municipal government including 24 years in various police positions including eight years as chief of police of San Marcos and Grapevine.  He was elected to the Lubbock City Council in 2003 and elected Mayor in 2008.

His lifetime spent in public service and his dedication to improving society is truly exemplary.  He has also given back to the Texas Tech Master of Public Administration program by serving on the MPA/CPS Advisory Board as well as attending and speaking at student events.  It is an honor to recognize him as an outstanding alumnus.
