Scholarship Information

The MPA Admissions Form also serves as a scholarship application.

Cunningham Scholarship: This scholarship is awarded to an incoming, full-time student planning to pursue a career in city management. The scholarship is endowed by Larry Cunningham, long time city manager in Texas and current city manager of North Richland Hills, TX. Applicants must complete the scholarship application and write a statement. One Cunningham Scholar is selected in even numbered years. The recipient receives $1000 for the first year of study and $1000 for the second year of study, but must maintain a 3.5 GPA and a city management emphasis to maintain eligibility for the scholarship.

Norwood Scholarship: This scholarship is awarded to an incoming, full-time student who is seeking a career in public administration. Applicants must complete the scholarship application form and write a statement regarding public service. One Norwood Scholars will be selected for Fall 2004. Recipients receive $500 for the first year of study and $500 for the second year of study, but he or she must maintain a 3.5 GPA to maintain eligibility for the scholarship.

Texas Tech MPA Diversity in Experience Scholarship: This scholarship is awarded to one incoming, full-time students who demonstrates a diversity of experience, which may included, but will not be limited to, study abroad, knowledge of other cultures, proficiency in several languages, race/ethnicity, and other factors that would improve educational experience of the MPA program. Applicants must complete the scholarship application for and write a statement explaining how his or her diversity of experience will enhance the educational experience of the MPA Program. This is a one-time award of $1000.

Texas Tech MPA Academic Merit Scholarship: This scholarship is awarded to full-time students who have demonstrated academic excellence. Applicants must complete the scholarship application form and write a statement that describes how they believe the MPA degree will contribute to their future public service. This is a one time award of $500- $1000.


Use the Perkins and Cayer Scholarship Form for the following scholarships available to students who have completed 18 hours in the MPA program.

Jerry Perkins Merit Scholarship: This scholarship is awarded to MPA students who have completed at least 18 hours in the MPA program and demonstrated excellence in academic performance. The amount of the scholarship varies, but is typically $250. Consideration is given to students in any of the fours tracks (fiscal administration, health administration, policy analysis, and public management.) Interested students should complete and submit the application form by September 30th of each year.

Joe Cayer Public Service Scholarship: This scholarship is awarded to MPA students who have completed at least 18 hours in the MPA program and demonstrated commitment to public service. The amount of the scholarship typically is $250 to $500. Applicants are asked to complete the scholarship application form and provide a short statement describing public service activities.
