Anatomy ANSC 2202
Fall 2006
General Information for Anatomy Lab and
Reading assignments for Introduction
& Organs and Systems
John McGlone & Nadege Krebs
· Students will be in groups of 3 for each bench.
o Your bench and lab partners will be assigned for the entire semester
o Each group is responsible for cleaning up after themselves; points can be deducted if bench is left messy or dirty before leaving
· Dissection of fetal pigs
o One fetal pig will be provided for each group of 3 students to work on throughout the semester.
o Another fetal pig will be provided towards the end to review before the lab final.
· Refer to assignment chart and textbook for the following:
o Review reading material prior to lab
o Quizzes (each week-not the week of the practical), spelling will always count. Quizzes will cover:
§ Terms and definitions
· CAPITAL definitions in the entire assigned chapter PLUS
· ALL- all definitions on the page assigned
§ Assigned figures
§ Assigned Vignettes (boxes of interesting information). The exact Vignette may not on the quiz but rather the principle.
§ Others- TAs may provide handouts; the extra material may be on quizzes and lab exams
· Students are required to bring their book every time
Office hours:
· Nadège Krebs will be available to answer your questions or to give access to slides or tissues on Tuesdays 5.00 pm-6.00 pm. She will be in the Behavior lab (room 236, ph 742-2805 x271). You can also make an appointment for another time to come by to get assistance.
· Students are welcome to ask questions and explanations about the content or the meaning of the material throughout the week via email (lindsey.hulbert@ttu.edu or nadege.krebs@ttu.edu).
Study Tips:
ü Use the models and figures as guides and pay close attention during dissection. Students are encouraged to come into the lab on their own time and form study groups.
ü Copy figures and color and refill in the anatomical terms.
ü Make flash cards of terms and definitions with pictures and quiz each other.
ü ASK questions! If you need help studying, we will be happy to help get you started; part of this class is learning how to learn
