General Information for Anatomy Lab and

Reading assignments for Introduction & Organs and Systems

·        Students will be in groups of 3 for each bench.

o       Your bench and lab partners will be assigned for the entire semester

o       Each group is responsible for cleaning up after themselves; points can be deducted if bench is left messy or dirty before leaving

·        Dissection of fetal pigs

o       One fetal pig will be provided for each group of 3 students to work on throughout the semester.

o       Another fetal pig will be provided towards the end to review before the lab final.

·        Refer to assignment chart and textbook for the following:

o       Review reading material prior to lab

o       Quizzes (each week-not the week of the practical), spelling will always count. Quizzes will cover:

§         Terms and definitions

·        CAPITAL definitions in the entire assigned chapter PLUS

·        ALL- all definitions on the page assigned

§         Assigned figures

§         Assigned Vignettes (boxes of interesting information). The exact Vignette may not on the quiz but rather the principle.

§         Others- TAs may provide handouts; the extra material may be on quizzes and lab exams

·        Students are required to bring their book every time

 

 

Office hours:

·        Nadège Krebs will be available to answer your questions or to give access to slides or tissues on Tuesdays 5.00 pm-6.00 pm. She will be in the Behavior lab (room 236, ph 742-2805 x271).  You can also make an appointment for another time to come by to get assistance.

·        Students are welcome to ask questions and explanations about the content or the meaning of the material throughout the week via email (lindsey.hulbert@ttu.edu or nadege.krebs@ttu.edu).

Study Tips:

ü      Use the models and figures as guides and pay close attention during dissection. Students are encouraged to come into the lab on their own time and form study groups.

ü      Copy figures and color and refill in the anatomical terms.

ü      Make flash cards of terms and definitions with pictures and quiz each other.

ü      ASK questions! If you need help studying, we will be happy to help get you started; part of this class is learning how to learn
