Student Union Fee Advisory Board
Charge:
The Student Union Fee Advisory Board is charged with the planning, growth and direction of the Student Union. The focus of this board includes but is not limited to the making of a student union fee recommendation to the vice president for student affairs.
Appointment:
The vice president for student affairs will make appointments from nominations received through standard procedures. Faculty appointments are for three years, and student and staff appointments are for one year. Faculty members may not serve consecutive terms. The Student Government Association president shall appoint student members who may not serve more than three years.
Operating Procedures:
In terms of day-to-day operation, the advisory board serves in the capacity of consultant and advisor. The board will make the final review of policies and procedures instituted or modified by the Student Union staff.
The board will serve as the next point in the appeal process of any policy decision or interpretation made by the Student Union’s management. Further appeal will lie with the vice president for student affairs.
Concerns brought to the advisory board by the staff will be discussed and the board’s input will be sent back to the staff. Policies and procedures may be amended in process.
The advisory board representatives will be involved in interviewing, selecting and hiring of major Student Union staff.
Co-Chairpersons:
The Student Government Association president shall appoint the student chairperson of the advisory board. The director of the Student Union shall co-chair the advisory board, however, he or she shall vote only in the case of a tie.
