Student Life Council
Charge:
The Student Life Council shall serve in an advisory capacity to the vice president for student affairs & enrollment management (VP) for non academic matters affecting student life, student success, and student learning. The Council shall be responsible for making recommendations to the VP through the senior associate vice president for student affairs & enrollment management (SAVP) and the associate vice president for student affairs & enrollment management and dean of students (AVP/DOS) regarding programs, services, advisement, policies, and/or procedures that impact the transition, engagement, recruitment, and/or retention of undergraduate and graduate students. The Council is also responsible for providing assessment of and recommendations for the various programs and services provided by the division of student affairs & enrollment management. In addition, the Council shall be responsible for implementing new initiatives as may be determined or assigned. The Council should meet monthly.
Operating Procedures:
The Council shall develop operating procedures subject to the approval of the SAVP and the AVP/DOS. Copies of all minutes and reports will be provided to all Council members and the VP. All members of the Council may vote, including substitutes representing absent Council members. The SAVP, AVP/DOS and VP review and approve Council recommendations. Subcommittees, as appropriate, can be utilized to assist the Council.
Chairperson:
The senior associate vice president for student affairs & enrollment management (SAVP) and the associate vice president for student affairs & enrollment management and dean of students (AVP/DOS) shall co-chair the Council.
Membership:
Appointed members serve one-year terms and can be reappointed. The term should run concurrent with the academic calendar year (August – July).
- Colleges, Schools – One associate/assistant dean of the student support/services area from each academic college, the Graduate School, the School of Law, and Libraries appointed by the respective academic dean
- Student Affairs & Enrollment Management Division – Eight senior level/ directors appointed by the VP
- Student Government Association (SGA) – One full-time undergraduate and one full-time graduate student appointed by the president of SGA
- Faculty Senate - One faculty member appointed by the president of faculty senate
- Staff Senate – One full-time staff member appointed by the president of staff senate
- Office of the Provost – One representative from the provost office appointed by the provost
- Administration and Finance Division – One representative appointed by the vice president for administration and finance
- Registrar – The director
- Information Technology and Chief Information Office - Assistant/associate vice president appointed by the associate president and CIO
- Advising Center at Texas Tech – The director
