University Discipline Appeals Committee

Charge:

The University Discipline Appeals Committee is empowered to review discipline cases presented to it by tape recording or in writing, or both, or by a student or registered student organization making an appeal in accordance with the provisions in the Code of Student Conduct as described in the Student Affairs Handbook.

Appointment:

The director of Student Judicial Programs will appoint committee members from nominations received through standard procedures. Appointments are for one (1) year. Committee members may be reappointed for consecutive one (1) year terms.

Operating Procedures:

The committee is responsible to the director of Student Judicial Programs but will report to the dean of students.

The committee shall develop its own operating procedures in accordance with the Code of Student Conduct and subject to the approval of the director of Student Judicial Programs .

Chairperson:

The chairperson will be appointed by the director of Student Judicial Programs from the full-time faculty and/or staff members.

  1. Three (3) full-time faculty members
  2. Three (3) full-time undergraduate student members
  3. One (1) Ex-officio member

A quorum of the committee is four (4) members, so long as at least one (1) member is present from each of the three (3) representative categories.
