John M. Burns, Ph.D.
Dr. Burns has a Bachelor of Science in Education and Chemistry from New Mexico State University (1963), a Master of Science in Biology and Microbiology from New Mexico State University (1966), and a Ph.D. in Zoology and Endocrinology from Indiana University (1969). From 1976 through 1977, Dr. Burns completed Post Doctoral work as an Endocrinology Research Fellow at the Mayo Medical School in Rochester, Minnesota.
Dr. Burns came to Texas Tech University in 1969. He has held many positions at this university, including Chairperson for the Department of Biological Sciences, Provost, and Associate Vice President for Undergraduate Research. Dr. Burns was Interim Dean of the College of Agricultural Science and Natural Resources before he was appointed Dean of the college. Dr. Burns has also authored over 60 publications and obtained over $3 million in grants.
