Dr. Michael Findlater is an assistant professor of organic chemistry. His research interests include:
- C-H bond activation / functionalization
- catalysis and synthetic organometallic chemistry
Specifically, he has focused on the conversion of low-value organic molecules like alkanes into value-added and highly functionalized products.
Professor Findlater obtained his Bachelor of Science in chemistry in 2003 from the University of Strathclyde in the United Kingdom. He then moved on to pursue a Ph.D. in chemistry from The University of Texas at Austin, graduating in 2008. Before joining the faculty at Texas Tech University, professor Findlater worked as a postdoctoral research associate under the supervision of Maurice Brookhart at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 2008 to 2011.
