Abigail King is an assistant professor in the Department of English. Her research area is authoritative metaphor and social change. She brings an understanding of how communication of social concepts will be received by various societal groups. In the classroom these interactions are borne out of how teachers can use signals to foster specific learning practices. Her research examines how in larger societal discussions dealing with human health, often the appropriate metaphor will allow more acceptance of an important issue.
