Brennan Thompson

Brennan Thompson is an assistant professor in the Department of Health, Exercise and Sports Sciences. His research addresses the assessment and applications of neuromuscular function in a variety of populations and settings. Specifically, Thompson’s research involves conducting research on athletes, aging and occupational populations, as well as other potential clinical populations. His goals are to examine:

  • the influence of aging on the neuromuscular performance capacities regarding muscle mass, muscle quality and force output, neural activation alterations, and dynamic performance capabilities
  • the effects of manual vs. nonmanual labor on neuromuscular performance as well as nutritional characteristics of these occupations
  • physiological mechanisms associated with neuromuscular performance in general, and the performance-related consequences commonly observed in the aforementioned populations and settings
